At Romolo
Chocolates, every piece of candy is, quite literally, made by hand. And at
every stage of production, there is a family member involved—using
old-world techniques in state-of-the-art facilities.
After
being raised as a young child in his grandfather’s candy shop, Tony
Stefanelli apprenticed under his grandfather Romolo, his father Tony Sr.,
and his uncle Art for nearly 20 years. Tony opened Romolo
Chocolates in 1994 where today, joined by his sons and fourth-generation chocolatiers Anthony and
Roman Stefanelli, Grandpa Romolo’s artisanal craft thrives and evolves
to meet customers’ increasingly diverse and sophisticated tastes.
In 2004, Tony was named one of only 26 master confectioners in the U.S.
Today,
Romolo Chocolates is a must-stop destination for Erie
natives and visitors alike.

"Just a quick message to say your
Chocolates were well received here in Minnesota. I lived in Erie all
my life until a few years ago. Still have the craving for your
chocolate. I get back once in a while and take advantage of
purchasing some to bring back. I was just there after Thanksgiving
and bought some to take back to my fellow workers here at Albert Lea
Medical Center. They loved every piece. Melted in their
mouth. I sent them all your website, don't be surprised if you get
numerous orders from here. No chocolatiers out here like
Tony."--Mark Fenstermacher, Minnesota
